WBPSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates should check the educational qualification, age
limit and other conditions before applying.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates
must have passed the Madhyamik Examination conducted by the West Bengal
Board of Secondary Education or an equivalent examination.
- Candidates
should have elementary knowledge of computer operations.
- English
typing speed of at least 30 words per minute is required.
- Candidates
must fulfil the other conditions specified in the official advertisement.
Age Limit
The prescribed age limit is 18 to 44 years as of 1
January 2025. Age relaxation is available to eligible categories according
to the notification.
- SC/ST
candidates of West Bengal: 5 years.
- OBC
(Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of West Bengal: 3 years.
- PwBD
candidates: relaxation up to the prescribed maximum age of 45 years.

Selected candidates will receive salary under Pay Level 9,
with a pay scale of ₹28,900 to ₹74,500 under the West Bengal Services

WBPSC Stenographer Selection Process 2026
The selection process consists of the following stages:
- Paper
I – General English: Written examination carrying 100 marks.
- Paper
II – Dictation and Transcription: Skill-based test carrying 400 marks
for candidates who qualify as prescribed.
- Paper
III – Computer Typing: Typing test carrying 100 marks for candidates
shortlisted according to the notification.
- Final
Merit List: Prepared according to the prescribed selection criteria
and marks obtained in the examination stages.
